Abstract
A good online community cannot be built from a haphazardly chosen, prepackaged template, but must stem from the needs of the user. Good websites start with a specific topic and audience, address goals before formats, make navigation simple, and foster unique user contributions. The more you examine any online community, the more you realize that continuing to focus on the user could make it even better.
